Meet the Team

Farming is a family affair, and here at AV we embody just that. Our dedicated team members pull from diverse educational and professional backgrounds, providing you with personalized customer care.

Mark Greenspan is a viticulture expert with nearly 30 years of scientific, technical, and field experience. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, an M.S. in Viticulture, and a Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering from UC Davis. Mark is a Certified Crop Advisor (CCA), Certified Professional Agronomist (CPAg), and licensed Pest Control Advisor (PCA) in California. He is a regular contributor to Wine Business Monthly and to the AV blog. In 2005, he founded Advanced Viticulture, growing it from a solo consultancy into a trusted, family-run vineyard services company serving clients across California.

Alec has managed over 20 vintages and leads vineyard management and development at Advanced Viticulture. Since starting with a single 16-acre ranch in 2011, he has grown AV’s management portfolio to over 350 acres—and counting. Known for his craftsmanship, attention to detail, and hands-on expertise, Alec plays a key role in delivering high-end vineyard services across Sonoma and surrounding counties.

Linda combines a background in engineering with deep agricultural roots. Raised in California’s Sacramento Valley, she grew up working on her family’s farm before earning a B.S. in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from CSU Chico. Linda went on to lead engineering and IT roles at Lockheed and several Bay Area tech firms. Now at Advanced Viticulture, she brings precision and project management expertise to GIS mapping, field data systems, database management, and tech-driven vineyard operations.

Mark was born and raised in Sonoma County and has over 17 years of vineyard agriculture experience. A graduate of Geyserville High School, he has served as a vineyard supervisor and safety officer for leading wine industry companies including Clos Du Bois, Buena Vista, and Redwood Empire Vineyard Management. At Advanced Viticulture, Mark brings expertise in team leadership and safety program development. “I’m fortunate to do what I love alongside people I respect — we’re not just a team, we’re a family.”

Juan has worked in agriculture since 1996, with a focus on vineyard management across Napa, Sonoma, Santa Clara, and San Mateo Counties. His hands-on experience across diverse winegrowing regions has shaped his adaptable and client-focused approach. As Vineyard Supervisor at Advanced Viticulture, Juan oversees vineyard installation and management, applying refined techniques to meet the complex needs of premium vineyards in Sonoma and beyond.

Loni, a native of Point Reyes Station, blends academic expertise with a global perspective in viticulture. After earning a B.A. in Economics from Smith College, she discovered her passion for wine while harvesting grapes in Piedmont, Italy. She earned a second bachelor’s and a master’s in Viticulture and Enology from the University of Turin, and worked as Assistant Vineyard Manager at Ceretto Winery. Since joining Advanced Viticulture in 2019, Loni has focused on grapevine physiology and fine wine production across Sonoma and surrounding regions.

Loni Lyttle

Director of Viticulture

Jeff brings over 20 years of wine industry experience, with a focus on vineyard-driven wine quality. After early work in winemaking, he shifted to viticulture in 2006, recognizing the vineyard’s role in shaping great wine. Jeff holds a B.S. in Viticulture and Enology and an MBA from Sonoma State, and has managed premier vineyards along the Sonoma Coast. He serves on the Board of the Sonoma County Vineyard Technical Group, promoting regenerative farming practices. Before wine, Jeff worked as a software engineer at Apple and Sun Microsystems.
